IOLTA GRANT APPLICATION - ALLOCATIONS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2025

The grant cycle for FY2025 IOLTA grants is now closed.
The next grant cycle will open in early 2025 with applications due in early April. Decisions will be made by the end of June 2025 for FY2026.

Each year the board of the Delaware Bar Foundation receives, reviews and meets with grant applicants to determine awards and allocations of IOLTA-generated funds to Delaware’s legal aid organizations. At meetings in May and June 2024, the Board recommended the following IOLTA Grant Allocations for Fiscal Year 2025 (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025) that were approved and awarded by Supreme Court Order dated June 18, 2024:

Community Legal Aid Society, Inc. (CLASI)   $2,155,070
Delaware Volunteer Legal Services, Inc. (DVLS)   $632,744
Legal Services Corporation of Delaware, Inc. (LSCD)     $980,000
Delaware Lawyers Assistance Fund $20,000

The State of Delaware allocated a total of $600,000 in FY 2024 to the Bar Foundation through the Administrative Office of the Courts for legal services to the poor. The Bar Foundation allocated the entirety of the funds to the three legal aid agencies listed above.

Last fall, the Foundation and Court opened a supplemental grant cycle and awarded one-time grants for special projects. That supplemental cycle is now closed.

IS IOLTA PARTICIPATION MANDATORY?
Yes. Delaware’s IOLTA Rules maximize the revenue available for the charitable purposes of the IOLTA program by ensuring that all appropriate funds are maintained in IOLTA accounts and that those accounts earn competitive interest rates.
