The Delaware Bar Foundation is proud to partner with Howard Technical High School, in Wilmington, and its Legal Administrative Assisting Program (LAA), designed to introduce students to work as a legal assistant. At Howard, students receive specialized training in the following areas: office automation training with a range of computer software programs and office machines; training in the preparation of various legal documents and correspondence; and training in computerized legal research. Most of these students do not know a lawyer and have never been in a law office.
Beginning ten years ago, the Delaware Bar Foundation, partnered with the Howard to introduce the LAA students to a law firm/legal department setting through an afternoon shadowing program. Until Covid 19 interrupted in-person gatherings, the Foundation had successfully partnered with firms and offices to host students at 12 offices each fall. We are proud to offer this program once again and thank our Law Firm and Law Office Partners for hosting these students.
